Argelès sur Mer is known as a place to visit all-year-round with its magnificent scenery and heritage
to absorb. At the foot of the Alberes Mountains (1157m) the village perfectly combines the countryside with the sea.
The Alberes Mountains permit you to explore activities such as horse riding, mountain-biking, fishing
and walking with tracks that lead you to discover other villages that boast Romanesque chapels, ancestral craft and the
Sorede Train museum, to name but a few.
The beaches are renowned for their water sports including wind surfing, snorkelling, water skiing,
parascending, sea kayaking, pedalos and scuba diving. If this is not enough for water lovers then there is also a superb
waterpark called Aqualand with rides available for all of the family. For non- water based activities the local theme park
offers fairground rides for all ages, mini golf, go-karting and much more.
On the seafront, a 3km tree-fringed promenade leads you to the harbour, Port Argelès, which offers boat
trips to enjoy during the day. In the evening there are an abundance of bars and restaurants, known locally as "Le Racou"
which means Corner in Catalan. Offering a range of nighttime activities for all tastes from visiting the cinema, bowling,
experiencing the local casino or dancing the night away at one of the many nightclubs.
